This is a story that has good characters, storyline and moves along at a nice pace. I kept saying I will read 5 more minutes which turned into an hour and then some. I like this author a lot and what she gives to us in her books. Tate and Jillie have history that go back to when they are 12. He has been living in foster homes, she lives with her dad. As they get older they feel much more for each other but at 18 something happens and Tate leaves town. Now it is 18 years later, he is successful in his life and circumstances bring him back to town. Jillie has 2 daughters and recently left a widow when her husband commits suicide. Not wanting to do any spoilers I will say there are some twists that come up but what I liked the most is the growth of relationships in the story and the consequences one must face for choices made in the past. The author gives us lots of emotion in her stories and I cared very much for the characters and what they went through.Product details

OMG! I could not put his book down!!! This is the third book in Smith Lake series & I have loved all three, if you haven't read them get them as soon as possible!

Even though I am giving 4 stars (which would be 4 1/2 if we could do that) I still loved this book and I have read quite a few by Inglath Cooper. The story line was great and liked the different points of view but it just needed more to the story I felt but love her and her books and this is a great read which I have already recommended it.
One of my favorite books by this wonderful author. The special love that Nate and Jillian re-discover is inspiring. They save an old horse farm and rescue the animals that no one wants anymore. This is one of those, "please don't end" kind of books. I am working my way through Inglath Cooper's list. This one I loved.
I just stumbled on Inglath Cooper and I must say how much I enjoy her writing. I find myself after a long days work that I look forward to coming home and reading a good book.
I must say however that there is always a lose end to the characters that are key players. I guess this is a new way to thinking about what could have been.
All in all I really enjoy her writing and think if you are looking for easy reading you have found your author.

I LOVE ALL of the books I have read by Inglath Cooper. However, I think this is by far my favorite. The storyline, the mystery, the romance, the love of all animals especially abused & mistreated animals -- all parts of this book that made it a fantastic read. I wish it didn't end.
Something about trials and tribulations in a book that make you think. Ms Cooper once again does it! Tears! Oh yes grab a tissue. Smiles and light bulb moments. So beatiful . Jillie and Tate will rock your hearts and souls.
